biography

Based in Faenza, Italy, Caroline is a free-lance saxophonist/teacher from the United States. Caroline has performed concerts throughout the United States, Italy, Spain, France, Croatia, Cyprus and San Marino. In the past few years she has appeared in festivals such as Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi, Ravenna Festival, Spinacorona Festival, Lago Maggiore Musica, Nei Suoni dei Luoghi and Paesaggi Musicali Toscani to name a few, as well as with music associations such as New Muse Concerts (USA), the Amici della Musica (Italia), Associazione Musicale Etnea (Sicily), and Fondazione Gioventù Musicale d’Italia.  

Caroline holds first prizes in numerous competitions as a soloist including the University of Georgia’s Concerto Competition, and in chamber music including Italy’s Premio delle Arti, Chamber Music Division. Active in the saxophone community, she has also participated and performed in saxophone conferences such as the World Saxophone Congress and the North American Saxophone Alliance. An avid chamber musician, Caroline gave the European premiere of David Maslanka’s Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Wind Ensemble under the baton of Lorenzo Passerini with the Mestizo Quartet.

Caroline currently teaches saxophone at the Officina della Musica in Ravenna, La Scuola di Musica Malerbi in Lugo, and Accademia InArte in Forli. Caroline holds degrees from the University of Georgia (2017/ graduated Magna Cum Laude) and the Conservatorio di Musica “F.A. Bonporti” di Trento (2020′ graduated 110/110 lode e menzione), and is the first saxophonist to graduate from the Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola “Incontri col Maestro” (2023′ graduated 110/110 e lode) where she studied Chamber Music. Her primary teachers include Marco Albonetti, Connie Frigo and Marco Zuccarini.

Duo of Saxophone and piano. Has performed for New Muse Concerts (USA), Piccolo Spoleto Festival, and the Remington Concert Series. 

Duo Archipelago
with Alexandra Tchernakova (Italy)

The duo was born during the chamber music course at the Fondazione Internazionale Accademia di Imola ‘Incontri col Maestro’ in Italy. The duo has performed in San Marino and throughout Emilia Romagna, including Imola, Faenza, Dozza, Bologna.

Project of saxophone and choir based on Rimas by Dutch composer Guillermo Lago. Based on the Rimas or Rhymes of Romantic Spanish poet Adolfo Gustavo Becquer. 

Organi di un Paesaggio Mitico in Divenire

An exploration connecting art, dance, and music with artist Alessandro Roma and dancer Paola Ponti. First performed in Faenza’s Museo Zauli in 2021 for the IV Ceramic Performance Festival.

The Peacock and the Snake

Collaboration between visual art and music with artist Alessandro Roma in which the sound becomes one with image. First performed in 2022 in Villa Roberti (Padova).

Camerata degli Ammutinati

La Camerata degli Ammutinati è un’ensemble specializzato nella musica del presente. Il suo scopo è diffondere la musica contemporanea, ricostituendo il legame compromesso tra compositore e pubblico, tra arte e società. La musica si fa così linguaggio del nostro presente, espressione diretta dell’uomo e della società del ventunesimo secolo. La Camerata degli Ammutinati è portavoce di una musica aperta e mai elitaria, di un’arte al servizio di tutti, fonte di arricchimento culturale e spirituale. Sono in corso contatti con l’associazione “Wunderkammer Orchestra” di Pesaro, nell’ottica di future collaborazioni sul fronte della musica contemporanea
